Ranking the Top Rated Porn Actresses of the Year

Hairy bush fetishists aside, most people would agree that the porn stars of today are better looking than the porn stars of 20 years ago. What many people don’t realize is that the overall level of acting ability possessed by porn stars has also greatly improved. A major reason for both is the emergence of reality television. The types of movies which aired on Skinemax and USA’s “Up All Night” in the 1990s have been largely replaced by reality shows. It makes perfect sense. Why would a cable network produce or buy the rights to a B-movie when they can produce a reality show for a fraction of the cost, air the new episodes during primetime and then air reruns during late night time slots that were previously reserved for B-movies? Not only that, but they also get free advertising every time an attention starved cast member does something stupid. There’s no need to pay for Shannon Tweed types when there are a million dime-a-dozen JWoww types willing to work for practically free. What does this have to do with porn? Well, the actresses in B-movies were usually attractive and talented. Not quite Hollywood level talented, but still very talented. Many of the girls who would have become B-movie stars in the 90s are becoming porn stars today because those B-movie roles have been squeezed out. If you think about it, reality TV stars are kind of like the illegal immigrants of the entertainment industry.

Given all of that, I thought it would be interesting to watch as many feature length porn movies as possible over the course of a two week period and then rank the top ten porn actresses based solely on acting ability. I ended up watching 12 from beginning to end and was very impressed, sometimes surprisingly impressed, with the production quality, screenwriting, acting talent, cinematography, and pretty much every other detail in all twelve movies. Here’s a recap of the ones I watched.

The porn film parody (or porn spoof film) isn’t really a new concept, but has exploded in popularity over the past few years, so I thought that watching a few of them would be a good place to begin my ‘research’. I started with Batman XXX: A Porn Parody, which was made by legendary porn studio Vivid Video. It was the first in series of high budget, feature length adult movies from the Vivid-Superhero imprint, it received a considerable amount of mainstream media coverage, and it ended up winning 2011 AVN Awards for Best Renting/Selling Feature, Best Porn Film Parody(Comedy), Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Marketing, and Best Supporting Porn Actress (Lexi Belle). I then watched two more Vivid-Superhero porn parodies – Superman XXX: A Porn Film Parody and The Incredible Hulk XXX: A Porn Film Parody. Deciding it was time to switch it up a bit, but still wanting to to stick with the parodies, I watched Elvis XXX: A Porn Parody. I felt it was time to check out another studio and was intrigued by The Official Silence of The Lambs Parody by Zero Tolerance because it seemed to be darker than your typical parody. It was awesome. I thought The Official Revenge of The Nerds Parody by Third Degree would be entertaining, so I watched that next and followed it up with The Official Vagina Monologues Parody because a monologue seems like it be a good way to judge acting talent. After that was The Official Jerry Springer Parody which I watched simply because I thought it would be fun.

After 8 porn parodies in a row, it was time to switch things up a bit and watch a few of the original feature length porn movies that have received critical acclaim from within the industry. First was The Condemned: Vengeance is A Bitch, which was nominated for Best Feature, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Actor, Best Original Screenplay and Best Editing awards. I then watched Beautiful Stranger, which was written and directed by 2010 AVN Best Actress winner Kimberly Kane, and Malice in LaLaLand, which won an award for Best Editing. For the last one, I just randomly picked Scream XXX: A Porn Parody.

Alexis Texas
Incredible Hulk XXX, Superman XXX, Batman XXX Porn Parodies – Vivid
I’ve been a fan of porn star Alexis Texas for a couple years, but I honestly don’t remember any of her speaking roles until after watching the movies on this list. Is that bad? I guess I was just paying attention to other stuff. Anyway, I was really impressed with her acting in both Superman XXX and Batman XXX.

Andy San Dimas
Batman XXX, Superman XXX, and Elvis XXX Porn Parodies – Vivid
Malice in LaLaLand – Vivid
2011 AVN best actress winner Andy San Dimas absolutely nailed her roles as Lois Lane in Superman XXX and as Priscilla Presley in Elvis XXX. She was also impressive in Batman XXX and Malice in LaLaLand. She’s definitely a top rated porn actress and I also wouldn’t be surprised to see her getting roles in mainstream indie type movies at some point.

Kagney Linn Karter

The Official Silence of The Lambs Parody – Third Degree Movies
In The Official Silence of the Lambs Parody, Kagney Linn Karter plays the role of Clarice Starling, a role that won Jodie Foster an Academy Award for Best Actress in 1992. Even in a parody, that’s a tough act to follow and she nailed it. She even did the role as a brunette. Not quite a Robert Deniro in Raging Bull type transformation, but very impressive nonetheless.

Kimberly Kane
Batman XXX: A Porn Parody – Vivid
Beautiful Stranger, The Condemned – Vivid
The next top rated porn actress is the multi-talented Kimberly Kane. She has won an AVN award for best actress and has also directed 8 feature length porn movies, including Beautiful Stranger, a movie that which she excelled both in front of and behind the camera. She was also great in both of her scenes in The Condemned.

Lexi Belle
Batman XXX, Elvis XXX, Incredible Hulk XXX, and Superman XXX Porn Parodies – Vivid
Lexi Belle was good several of the movies but I was particularly impressed with her performance in Elvis XXX, where she played the role of Ann Margaret and as Batgirl in Vivid’s Batman XXX: A Porn Parody, which is the role that won her a Best Supporting Actress award.

Lily LaBeau
Incredible Hulk XXX and Scream XXX Porn Parodies – Vivid
Official Revenge of the Nerds Porn Parody – Third Degree Movies
After doing her first two movies in 2009, this year is looking like a breakout year for porn star Lily LaBeau. She was very great in all three of the above movies, but her performance in The Incredible Hulk XXX was especially impressive. Hopefully she’ll continue to get more of those A-list type roles.

Nikki Jayne
The Condemned – Vivid
Like a true leading lady British porn star Nikki Jayne gave a phenomenal performance in all four of her nine scenes in Vivid’s The Condemned, a movie which I honestly feel is much better all around than that piece of crap Academy Award Best Picture winning movie Crash.

Raven Alexis
The Official Revenge of The Nerds Porn Parody – Third Degree Movies
Even though it was more of a cheesy comedy type role, top rated porn actress Raven Alexis was really good in both of her Revenge of The Nerd Parody scenes and I imagine that she’d do just as well in a more dramatic role.

Samantha Ryan
The Official Vagina Monologues Porn Parody – Third Degree Movies
I watched The Official Vagina Monologues Porn Parody primarily because I heard that Samantha Ryan gave a great performance. The movie itself wasn’t exactly my cup of tea, but I know talent when I see it and she’s definitely very talented and showed it with a great performance.

Tori Black
Batman XXX and Incredible Hulk XXX Porn Parodies – Vivid
Tori Black is easily the hottest Catwoman of all time and nailed her speaking roles in the Batman XXX Porn Parody. She also gave a great performance as Dr. Banner’s wife the The Incredible Hulk XXX Porn Parody and is easily one of the top rated porn actresses of year.
